We're gonna get a leeetle bit spidery now I'm afraid - arachnophobes should go and hide in the next room. I actually found this half-grown Segestria florentina spider tucked into a crevice in the brickwork yesterday. I poked it around and chased down a few shots at the time, but today’s ones are better! It was still in the vicinity, so I prodded it around again, accidentally disturbing a little Zygiella from under a windowsill while I was at it. In the end they both posed rather nicely for some shots in close proximity.
The larger spider (above) is a half-grown Segestria florentina. This shot shows its distinctive green-tinged jaws to some extent. The smaller spider (below) is a fully-grown Zygiella x-notata.
