Moon Jellyfish Aurelia aurita
Moon Jellyfish Aurelia aurita

A heatwave persists, and the only polite response is to go down to Tankerton for a dip in the sea. One of the kids spotted this moon jellyfish bobbing around. It was difficult to get a camera into the sea to photograph it, so I captured it and took it to the camera. I’m not sure if these little fellas have stinging tentacles or not, so I captured it upside-down on my hand, and thereafter in an empty strawberry punnet. How does it work? It is just a blob or translucent jelly, with no apparent internal workings of any kind. It feels a bit rubbery by the way.
